$216,028 lands on one total: BAL/TB Over 8 is today's concentrated bet
The board's biggest pregame campaign is 66% one-sided on a single number, and the pitching trend underneath it points the same way.
What we found
On an eight-game board, one market absorbed more concentrated pregame money than any other: $216,028 on 215BALTB Over 8, at 66% one-sided. That is not a live in-game number — it is pregame money on a total, placed before first pitch.
For scale, tracked whale money across today's slate is $906,280 across 12 campaigns. A single total is carrying close to a quarter of everything we tracked. And it is doing so without a single outsized ticket driving the average: the biggest single ticket on the entire board today is $24,703, while the largest ticket inside this specific campaign is $14,700. That distinction matters. A 66% one-sided figure built from many mid-sized tickets is a different object than one whale hitting a button once.
The second-largest campaign, $101,041 on BOS ML in 335BOSPIT at 99% one-sided, is more lopsided but a third the size. Third is $81,168 on TB ML at 98% one-sided — the same game as our headline total. Two separate campaigns, one on the game total and one on the home side, both landing in 215BALTB.
The trends
Four things move in the same direction as that money.
First, the pitching. Freddy Peralta (TB) carries an 8.44 ERA over his last 5 and 8.18 over his last 3, against a season mark of 5.33. The short-window trend is worse than the long-window one, and that gap is the whole story: recent form is deteriorating, not reverting.
Second, our own totals work leans the same way. Eight of eight flagged total edges today point over, led by SEA @ HOU where model fair sits at 10.15 against a line of 7.5 — a +2.65 run gap. We do not have an edge flagged on 215BALTB itself, and we are not claiming one. But a board where every flagged total points over is context for money landing on an over.
Third, the line tape. Prices are drifting toward the money in several markets over the last 20 hours: 335BOSPIT-BOS 49.5c to 52.5c (+3.0), 337NYYTOR-TOR 50.5c to 53.5c (+3.0), 515STLCHC-CHC 60.5c to 62.5c (+2.0), 340SDCLE-SD 50.5c to 51.5c (+1.0). Only 335AZATL-ATL moved the other way, 54.5c to 53.5c (-1.0). Money and price are agreeing today more than they are disagreeing.
Fourth, where the money is *not*. Our model leans underdog in five spots — BAL ML +130, WSH ML +153, STL ML +167 — with STL the top read at model 41.6% and +11.1% EV. The concentrated money is not in those markets. It is in a total and two favorites' moneylines. Those are different bets from the ones our model is pointing at, and reading them against each other is more useful than treating either as confirmation.
The counterweight to Peralta is on the other side of the board: Drew Anderson (DET) at 1.32 ERA over his last 5 with 10.6 K/9. Same slate, opposite direction. Concentration tells you where conviction sits, not where it is right.
What it means
We track this because concentration is a measurable market-structure fact, not a prediction. It says a large amount of money agreed on one number at one time. It does not say the number is correct.
What has an out-of-sample record is the signal book. VELO_DROP is at 25.6% ROI over 101 graded bets and TRAILING_LATE at 10.4% ROI over 106 graded bets. Those are graded results with stated samples — a hundred bets each, which is enough to be interesting and not enough to be settled. A one-day concentration reading has a sample of one.
What would change our mind: if the biggest single ticket inside the campaign climbed toward the board-wide $24,703 mark, the 66% figure would stop describing broad agreement and start describing one account. That is a different signal, and we would read it differently.
